The words ‘blonde’ and ‘bombshell’ go together like Candice Swanepoel and a pair of angel wings
(i.e. a match made in heaven).
I’m not saying that brunettes aren’t sexy, but there’s something magical about a flash of light hair and an LBD walking into a room. All heads will turn.
One of my all-time favourite beauty looks is understated glamour, or in my own words, ‘The Everyday Bombshell’.
Kate Hudson, Charlize Thereon and Sienna Miller pull of this look effortlessly; these ladies only use a few staple products to enhance their natural beauty instead of caking on the make-up.
Here’s what I use on a daily basis to achieve a similar effect:
For luscious lips: Revlon Colorburst Lacquer Balm in Demure (R120)
This shade flew off the shelves when these new balms hit our shores a few months ago. I can definitely vouch for its popularity; it’s a warm-toned pink-peachy hue with hints of sparkle. The buttery formula leaves my lips feeling soft and the colour payoff is semi-sheer – just the way I like it for a ‘my lips but better’ look. Plus, I really like the subtle minty scent every time I apply the balm.
For sinless skin: Catrice Cosmetics Camouflage Cream in Light Beige (R50)
It pains me to admit this but I am an insomniac
Luckily for me, my dark under-eye circles don’t stand a chance with this budget bad-boy. It’s creamy consistency blends in wonderfully with my skin and I keep it in my make-up bag for sneaky touch-ups during the day. Gone are the days when I would pay a small fortune for a high-quality concealer!
For a fresh flush: Maybelline Dream Bouncy Blush in Pink Frosting (R90)
I was pleasantly surprised with the airy, bouncy texture of this blusher, so much so, that I can’t stop playing with it! It’s a gorgeous hybrid of cream and mousse, resulting in a fresh wash of long-lasting colour on my cheeks. This particular shade adds a much-needed soft, pink glow to my pale complexion.
For alluring lashes: Max Factor False Lash Effect Fusion Mascara in Black (R130)
I’ve tried (and loved) the original False Lash Effect mascara, but this one combines dramatic volume with incredible length, and has to be one of the best mascaras I’ve tried. The wand does a fantastic job of separating and defining my lashes without any clumping or smudging in sight.
