I’m starting a new category on my blog, Currently Craving, which will look at products on my wish-list or hot trends I’m dying to try.
Today’s craving is for decadent, wintery fragrances.
I like floral bouquets as much as the next girl, but one of the things I enjoy most about colder days and nights is that I can get away with wearing more potent, seductive scents.
Here are my top picks of rich, warm scents that are perfect for sipping coffee at work or cuddling up by a fireplace:
Dolce & Gabbana Pour Femme Intense
The above advertising campaign, shot by Mario Testino, features the gorgeous Laetitia Casta, and as far as I’m concerned you can’t get more sensual than that.
The scent is a sexy potion of tuberose and orange blossom infused with zesty mandarin and neroli, and a delicious base of marshmallows and sandalwood.
It really does smell good enough to eat and I’ll definitely be treating myself to the 50ml EDP very soon (I just need to make space on my perfume shelf for this baby 😉 ) This is for you if you want something sweet and powdery that isn’t overbearing.
Bvlgari Jasmin Noir
I already spoke about my current go-to fragrance in my June favourites post over here but I thought I should include it in this list as it’s perfectly fitting.
Jasmin Noir is also a sweet, white floral, but its unusual hints of liquorice and almond are what set it apart.
Dior Hypnotic Poison
As the names implies, this scent is utterly alluring. It is described as an oriental vanilla and my nose can definitely pick up on the comforting notes of vanilla, coconut and almond.
This fragrance was reformulated and I have read many disappointing reviews of a watered down version of the original scent. However, I must have the original formula as it smells divine and the staying power is great.
Givenchy Ange ou Demon
I’ve had this perfume for ages, probably since I was studying at varsity, and whenever I wear it I get compliments. It’s a dualistic oriental floral that combines the angelic innocence of ylang-ylang, vanilla and tonka bean with the mysterious naughtiness of rosewood and saffron. It constantly changes on my skin, adapting from woody to spicy to sweet, and a little goes a long way.
